Canada

Canada’s Best Private Boards announces the opening of the nomination period for the 2025 program, from now until March 1st, 2025. This annual, national awards program celebrates leadership in private company governance, highlighting stories of success, creating a culture of best-practice sharing and providing a playbook for other leaders who want to create a performance-driving board.

“Governance, when done right, is a key driver of private company performance and this is the only program that recognizes those success stories,” said Jennifer Mondoux, Managing Partner and CEO of MondouxRollins Partners Inc., and Founder and Chair of Canada’s Best Private Boards. “We are honouring the trailblazers but also creating an ecosystem of investors, supporters, private company founders, board members and service providers who are reshaping what drives private company success.”

Now in its second year, Canada's Best Private Boards will continue to blaze a trail, recognizing the impact of governance on the performance of private companies.

Advisory boards and fiduciary boards will be recognized in the following categories:

  • Family Business

  • Unrelated Shareholder Ownership / Investment Backed

  • Employee-Owned

  • Family Office

*NEW IN 2025* Significant individual contributions will also be recognized, in both advisory and fiduciary boards, in private companies:

  • The Trailblazer Award: this award recognizes the outstanding contributions made to a private company and to its board by an individual board member, committee chair or executive chair.

Eligibility:

  • Canadian organizations or Canadian subsidiary organizations, privately-owned and for-profit, with $5M or more in annual revenue;

  • Or individual board chairs/members of Canadian organizations or Canadian subsidiary organizations, privately-owned and for-profit, with $5M or more in annual revenue.

 Winners in each category will be celebrated in November 2025. A half-day of learning as well as the sharing of personal stories of transformational board experiences in private companies will take place on that day, to be followed by a stand-up cocktail where the 2025 winners will be celebrated.

Do you have or know of a board that’s on a journey to make their company great? Or an individual board chair/member who has shown leadership in private company governance. Nominate today before March 1st.
